Alpacas in the Garden: A Manor walk experience

Take a peaceful stroll through the stunning grounds of a Cotswold Manor, accompanied by gentle alpacas — calm, friendly animals once treasured by the Incas for their luxurious fleece. After a short introduction where you’ll learn how to handle and feed them, you’ll set off on a relaxed walk around the historic estate.

Dating back to the 12th century the Manor Estate has a rich and colourful history. Once home to the Ashwin family, prominent landowners who shaped the village over generations. Many of the estate’s features reflect its deep-rooted past, including ancient stonework salvaged from Evesham Abbey following the Dissolution of the Monasteries in the 16th century. The stocks on site serve as a chilling reminder of medieval justice once meted out to local villagers.

As you wander, you’ll pass through vibrant gardens and heritage landmarks — including the Tudor barn, the grand manor house façade, and a peaceful lake framed by willows and maples. You’ll meander through a walled garden, centred around a koi pond and fountain, where roses, standard laurels, and purple and white blooms flourish. The walk also takes in scented borders of roses, daphne and a variety of herbs, an orchard of heritage rhubarb and apple trees planted and colourful borders.  Ancient English oaks — some over 400 years old — provide timeless beauty throughout the grounds.

At the end of your walk, enjoy some relaxed time with the alpacas off-lead and a refreshing glass of homemade apple juice, pressed from fruit grown in the orchard. A gentle, joyful experience where history, nature, and the calming presence of alpacas come together in one of Worcestershire’s hidden gems.

Walks are available for groups of up to six people. Larger groups can be accommodated by prior arrangement. The minimum age to walk an alpaca is 10 years; children aged 6 to 10 may participate if accompanied by an adult.
